Therapist | Motivational Speaker | Facilitator

My life journey has taught me so many lessons and I’m excited and inspired to share them with anyone who may benefit.

As an African American raised within an intact family in Oakland California, I made the decision to embrace the Gospel and accept Jesus Christ as my personal Lord and Savior when I was thirteen years old. A foundational practice of the Christian faith is sharing with others how we mature in our faith as followers of Jesus. I am on a mission to use my background as a former pastor and division one football team Chaplain, therapist, entrepreneur, and motivational speaker to encourage people and make the world a safer, and better place.

The definition of integrity is to be whole, complete, or undivided. My ability to authentically live out my purpose in life in an integrated way makes that definition of integrity all the more meaningful to me. Although I have set clear boundaries between my professional and personal endeavors, I also place a high value on authenticity, transparency, and vulnerability. I aim to approach everything I do—as a Christian, a Black man, a husband, a father, a therapist, a motivational speaker—with the utmost integrity in the truest sense of the word.

    My Motivational Speaking Topics

As the son of a bi-vocational pastor and devout woman of faith, my training as a motivational speaker began at home and within the church at an early age. The speaking topics I offer reflect the needs of my audiences, biblical truth, and my scope of practice as a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist.

As a Christian inspirational and motivational speaker with a varied background, I am qualified to speak on many topics. Some speaking engagements I have talked about include, but are not limited to: The Gospel Message, masculinity and men’s issues, the practice of abstinence, sexual purity, dating and romance, marriage and family relationships, recovery, leadership training and development, racial reconciliation, suicide awareness, prevention and intervention, and more.

    About Me

As the youngest of five children whose father was a Christian pastor, our family spent a lot of time together in and outside of church. Church reinforced the biblical truths and priorities that were role-modeled and taught to me by my parents.

When I was a child I was focused on God, family, school, and athletics. When I discovered I had the potential to earn an academic or athletic scholarship to college, I set my sights on attending Skyline High School where I could play for legendary football coach, John Beam. Coach Beam was known for helping student-athletes obtain scholarships to college. My dream of earning an athletic scholarship to college was realized when enrolled at Fresno State University to play for the Bulldogs under the exemplary and gritty leadership of Head Football Coach, Pat Hill.

As a naïve kid from Oakland, I thought that as long as I performed well enough on the field and in the classroom, I’d have no problem achieving my dream. At the time I didn’t fully realize the difficulty of the task I was embarking on. Reaching this goal required dedication and commitment as part of my response to God’s unconditional, undeserved, and unearned favor in my life.

Fortunately, things worked out better than I had hoped for. In my senior year, I was voted my team’s “Most Valuable and Most Inspirational Player” and was soon headed to Fresno on an athletic scholarship. I ended up spending five years at Fresno State playing Division 1 football. While playing on the team, I was introduced to the Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) by some veteran players. This organization suited me perfectly because it integrated two things that were very important to me: faith and athletics.

When I wasn’t practicing or studying, I spent a lot of my time and energy as an FCA leader on campus. Using my platform as a Division 1 student-athlete I began traveling throughout the San Joaquin Valley with speaking engagements at middle schools, high schools, colleges, churches, businesses, and other organizations. It became clear to me that motivational speaking was a gift that could be used to have a lasting impact and influence on many people’s lives.

To me, faith, family, academics, and athletics were inextricably fused. Similar to high school, in my senior year of college, I was voted my football team’s “Most Inspirational Player” and also received the Humanitarian of the Year award at the MPC Computers Bowl in Boise, Idaho for contributions made to the community. After I graduated in 2005, I immediately transitioned into the role of Fresno State Football team Chaplain and Campus Director for FCA until I obtained my graduate degree and transitioned into mental healthcare.

As an alumnus of Fresno State who benefited from receiving a full scholarship, I joined the Fresno State Bulldog Foundation to help raise money for student athletic scholarships. I am also a member of the Fresno State African American Alumni and Friends. I believe that it is my responsibility to be intentional about giving back to the Church, University, and community.

Scripture says, “Everyone to whom much was given, of him much is required, and from him to whom they entrusted much, they will demand more.” (Mark 12:48). My heart is full of love and gratitude. Dedicating my money, time, and motivational speaking services over the years has been one of the ways I give back to my community.

Prior to starting my private practice, I spent more than a decade working as a therapist in various environments, including rehab centers, school campuses, group homes, community mental health, hospitals, as well as the child welfare and penal systems.

After two years in business, my practice transitioned from a sole proprietorship to a corporation. Having the opportunity to witness the transformation in people’s lives while growing a company is very fulfilling. However, not everyone can afford, access, or participate in therapy. Motivational speaking is a way to reach more people and have a lasting impact on them.
